[This is a back-issue of this website’s newsletter]
I first started this newsletter around about Easter, 2008. In 2008, Easter Sunday was almost as early in the year as it can possibly be. I mentioned in an early issue that perhaps I would make an easter date calculation worksheet.
Well, now it’s made! You can get it at this webpage.
It’s a one-page worksheet. You enter the year in a box at the left. Numbers are copied along arrows, and used in calculations. The results of these calculations are used in turn, until the month and day of Easter Sunday appears at the right. Although most of the steps are simple enough, one or two will need some scrap paper – or a calculator, if you prefer. Some long division will be necessary.
If you’d like to use this exercise with kids who aren’t comfortable with long division, the page also has two simpler versions of the worksheets, involving only two-digit numbers. These simpler worksheets only work for certain years though – one for 1900-1999, the other from 2000-2099.
Another thing added recently to the website is a shop – not every good game can be put online for download, so my wife has selected a range of good math books and toys. If you’re wondering what to get for an upcoming birthday, check out the range at here
Enjoy, and happy Easter!
