The stomachion is a puzzle like the tangram, but more complicated. The tangram has seven pieces, the stomachion has twice as many. The goal? Arrange the pieces into a square.
There are 536 ways to do this, but that doesn't mean it's easy! You can see one way on this web page. How many others can you find? What other shapes can you make? Can you work out the area of each piece, as a fraction of the area of the whole square?
I've created a printable set of stomachion tiles you can download and cut out. Get some scissors, make as many copies as you want, and have fun!
